8.3.1 CLV without external parameter memory
Message Meaning Possible cause Remedy
"CLV SYS-Failure: xxx"
The CLV has diagnosed a
system error.
The "Device Ready" LED does
not light up or extinguishes.
The system is restarted.

If the error occurs again after the
CLV is restarted, contact the SICK
Service department.
1) Deactivate the CAN interface
to suppress error numbers above
300 (not relevant in stand-alone
mode). To do so, upload the
parameter set from the CLV using
CLV-Setup, choose the CAN
I
NTERFACE
tab and deactivate the
function in the CAN I
NTERFACE
F
UNCTION
section.
Download the parameter set to
the CLV!
"EEPROM Check fault,
default parameters loaded"
The CLV has diagnosed an
irregularity in the EEPROM and
downloads the entire default
settings to the RAM instead of
the permanently stored
application-specific parameters.
Device fault. Contact the SICK Service
department.
"EEPROM - reading fault"
The CLV cannot load the appli-
cation-specific parameters, per-
manently stored in the EEPROM,
into the RAM.
Device fault. Contact the SICK Service
department.
"EEPROM - writing fault"
The CLV cannot write the
current parameters in the RAM
to the EEPROM.
Device fault. Contact the SICK Service
department.
"Focus table inconsistent:
defaults loaded"
The CLV has diagnosed an
irregularity in the internal refer-
ence table for the focus posi-
tions selected by the user. It
therefore loads the default set-
ting of the distance configura-
tions.
Device fault. Contact the SICK Service
department.
